PLEASURE LIES NOT IN THE GOAL, BUT IN THE STEPS LEADING TO IT…
Exploring new materials, fascination with their possibilities, and a constant search for unconventional combinations, technical qualities, and aesthetics led me to handmade paper many years ago. I continue to discover its extraordinary potential.
The magical aura of paper accompanies my creative process, whether I am working on large-scale objects or miniature pieces. Paper is patient, but it demands discipline, tranquility, and focus.
Papergami—this term captures the emotions I experience while creating handmade papers. It is a play of shadow, textures, and the almost mathematical precision of embroidery. It is a relationship between elements that form the final piece. Sometimes, it is a miniature requiring meticulous precision, only to be followed by a large-scale composition that embraces space and movement. I love these transitions—shifting from macro to micro scale, from ascetic white to bold colors. It is a fascinating game, testing how much more I can create with paper—something new, something different. Sometimes I need silence, but the rustling of paper objects is always unpredictable, and this element of uncertainty fascinates me the most.
